Please note that the following article pertains exclusively to the video editing use case — specifically, for users who started with 'Edit videos using Text' (the third box on the homepage). If you began with 'Script to Video' or 'Article to Video', please refer to these links for guidance on how to reduce the text in a scene:

  1. If you are already on the storyboard — go here.

  2. If you have yet to enter your script (on the script editor) — check this out.

Now, if you used 'Edit videos using Text' let's get started on how to change the number of lines on each scene:

  • Once you have uploaded your video to Pictory (whether it is from your computer to via a YouTube link), you will eventually get to the transcription page as seen in the screenshot below.

  • On the right side of the screen, right under the preview screen, you will see 'Max lines' — this refers to the number of lines of text that will appear on each scene.

  • Max lines is set to 1 by default meaning that if you leave it as it is, the subtitles will be shown in one line all through the video.

  • You can use the + (plus) or - (minus) buttons next to increase or reduce the number of lines of captions that appear in your video.

  • The changes will be reflected on the preview screen as you click the + or -.

And that's how you adjust the number of lines of captions in your video!
