Editing Words to Match Video Voice
Though usually extremely accurate, in instances where the voice in the video is accented or not annunciated clearly, the transcription can be slightly off.
For example, in this Barack Obama speech, though he says "As I said earlier," the transcription reads, "A Zay said earlier."
You can edit words to match the voice in the video by clicking on the word of interest then pressing the 'edit' button at the top left so it is highlighted black. Now you can change it to the word it should say. This can also be achieved by simply quickly double-clicking on the word of interest.
After you have changed a word or words, the change will immediately be reflected in the preview as well.
Deleting a Word
You may want to delete a word from your transcript and video, and to do so, you can right click on the word of interest and a pop-up option will appear. From here select the delete word option and the word will be deleted. This can also be achieved by clicking on the word of interest and then clicking the delete option at the top of the screen. When you delete a word, the word will no longer appear in the video, meaning that if you delete the word 'and' for example, when the video plays, the word 'and' that you removed will not be heard in the voice of the video.
Merging, Splitting, and Deleting Sentences
Occasionally, sentences may be too long or too short and appear awkward in length as a subtitle. Thankfully, you have the option to split and merge sentences to achieve the subtitle length you desire. You may also delete a sentence or multiple sentences from the transcription and this will be reflected in the video as well. To see how exactly it is reflected please refer to the preview on the right, it will give you an idea of how your video will look and sound. Remember, only deleting sentences will change the video voice itself, merging and splitting only affect how the subtitles appear in your video.
Merging Sentences Together
In your project, the current sentence may be too short to serve as a subtitle alone and you may want to add one or more sentence(s) to it.
To merge two or more sentences together, begin by simply highlighting the sentences you would like to be merged by pressing and holding your cursor and dragging it over the sentences of interest.
Then click the 'Merge' option at the top left of the screen and the sentences will be merged together both on the transcript and the video.
Splitting Sentences Apart
You may also have sentences in your transcription that are far too long to be appropriate for subtitles. For example, this subtitle covers most of the screen and may need to be split.
You can split sentences apart at any point you would like. To begin, click on the word right before where you would like the split to happen. In other words, the split will occur directly after the word you click on.
Then click the 'Split' option at the top left and the sentence will be split and the change will be reflected in the video preview as well.
Though it does not appear as though much has changed, the sentences have indeed been split. This is more apparent in the video preview.
To delete sentences, highlight the sentence(s) you would like to delete by pressing and holding your cursor and then dragging over the sentence(s) you would like to be deleted. It should look similar to this:
Then, simply click on the delete option at the top and the highlighted sentence(s) will be removed. Once a sentence is removed, it will no longer appear or be heard in the video. Meaning if you delete the sentence, "President Obama is a tall man," from your transcription, then that sentence will not appear in the video nor will it be heard in the voice any longer.
Managing Filler Words
One of the most useful features our video with voice transcription has is the ability to remove filler words such as 'um' and 'uh.' Automatically, our unique AI will mark all instances of 'uh' and 'um' as filler words by highlighting them.
Removing Filler Words
To remove filler words from your transcription and from the video as well, simply toggle on the 'Remove filler words' option in the top center of the screen.
Option toggled off - Notice filler words still present
Option toggled on - Notice filler words removed from transcription and video preview
To clarify, filler words that are removed will not appear in the subtitles nor will they be heard in the voice portion of the video. They will be effectively taken out of the video as if the speaker had never said them to begin with.
Marking Words as Filler Words
You can also manually choose words to be marked as filler words and be removed from the transcription and video as well. For example, if you wanted to remove all the instances of 'and' in this example, simply right on any occurrence of the word in the transcription and the option to add as a filler word will appear.
Once you click 'Mark as filler word,' all instances of 'and' will be removed. When the option to remove filler words is toggled off, we can see that all instances of 'and' have been marked as a filler word.
Unmarking Words as Filler Words
Similar to marking words as filler words, you may want to unmark a word so it is no longer removed with the other filler words that are marked. To do so, right click on a word that is currently marked as a filler word and you will see the option to unmark it.
Once you click this button, the word will no longer be marked as a filler word and therefore will not be removed should you toggle on the Remove filler words feature.
